BEEF INDUSTRY LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE – BEEF.ORG
DENVER, Feb. 1, 1998 – The beef industry launched its new "Beef. It's What You Want" Web site here today. The site combines the best of "CowTown America," the industry’s old site for consumers, and "Cattlemen On the Web," the old site for industry partners. In addition, the new site adds 50 state homepages and soon will feature sites for state beef councils and cattlemen’s associations.
The new site is designed for all audiences. Major sections include:
Food and Health, which includes recipes and information about the role of beef in the diet.
A News Room with information for media or anyone who wants to keep up with breaking news about the industry.
A Library that includes periodicals, reference materials, directories and audio-visual resources.
Industry Information, which provides an insight to ranch life today through the diaries of ranchers, shows how cattlemen work to improve the environment and much more.
Producer Information, which is a resource for those who raise cattle. They can keep up with the industry, link to market information, learn about the beef quality assurance program and more. In the months ahead, continuing education courses will be offered on subjects that will help producers maintain a profitable beef business into the 21st century.
The Organizations section provides background information on the organizations working together to build demand for beef.
The Services section provides special, limited-access services to members and state partners. Soon, these services will be available to marketing co-partners and other groups that work with and for the beef industry.
The Public Policy section provides the latest Washington news that affects the beef industry.
Search capabilities were limited at launch, but an improved search engine will be installed within two weeks to make finding information even easier.
The site is managed on behalf of the beef industry by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, which is the marketing organization and trade association for America's one million cattle farmers and ranchers. With offices in Denver, Chicago and Washington, D.C., NCBA is a consumer-focused, producer-directed organization representing the largest segment of the nation's food and fiber industry.
