BEEF QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAMS

(Level to be Determined) (Grant Funded)

 

 

Reports to:   Vice President, Producer Education          (Based in Denver office)

 

General Responsibilities: 

Provide support for the industry’s National Quality Assurance initiative.  Coordinate and develop educational materials and programs that support the industry’s Quality Assurance programs. Provide support and leadership to assigned NCBA staffing responsibilities.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

·        Manage grant programs implemented through BQA.

·        Serve as a coordinator for the industry’s Quality Assurance Program.  Includes supervision/coordination for the development/implementation of Quality Assurance projects and national programs.

·        Assists contractors for the Beef, Dairy/Beef and Veal Quality Assurance Programs and projects.

·        Take lead responsibility for the industry’s Transportation Quality Assurance Program.

·        Provide technical support and assistance to the industry’s Quality Assurance Network including web content development.

·        Develop Quality Assurance programs and materials for NCBA members and other appropriate audiences.

·        Take responsibility for fulfilling day-to-day obligations as related to Quality Assurance programs and assigned producer education projects.

·        Communicates regularly with quality assurance state coordinators and leaders.

·        Provide quantitative evaluation of the performance of the Quality Assurance Programs and projects.

·        Develop issue/program update reports for NCBA publications, the trade media and the BQA Network.

·        Provide team support and collaboration on appropriate business and strategy teams.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required Masters Degree preferred in animal science, agricultural economics, or related field with an emphasis on beef cattle production.  A minimum of 2 to 5 years industry or related experience.  Self motivated with strong leadership attributes.  Strong verbal and written communications skills.  Strong livestock production background preferred.  Familiar with the structure and husbandry practices in the cattle industry.  Must have a strong understanding of the production, processing and marketing segments associated with the cattle industry from farm/ranch to consumer.  Competent in the basic sciences and have an ability to review and assess scientific literature and relate to practical applications in the industry.  Also must be able to effectively interface with beef and dairy producers, the scientific community, extension, nutrition and veterinary professionals, allied industry, government personnel and industry influencers.  Must function well in a team environment and have competent computer skills.
