Beef Industry Joins With Domino’s Pizza® To Introduce Philly Cheese Steak Pizza
In an effort to boost beef offerings at casual dining and quick-service restaurants, the beef industry is assisting Domino’s Pizza in introducing a new Philly Cheese Steak Pizza. On behalf of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) and state beef councils, the National Cattlemen`s Beef Association (NCBA) has carved out a unique promotional effort with Domino’s that paves the way for local Domino’s franchises around the country to work with state beef councils.
Domino’s began introducing its Philly Cheese Steak Pizza nationwide on September 2. In a special offer, consumers can order a medium Domino’s Philly Cheese Steak Pizza for just $9.99, and get any second medium pizza for $5 more through the end of October. The Beef Check logo will appear on all print materials and in their TV commercial.
“Quality and innovation really come together with Domino’s Philly Cheese Steak Pizza and we`re excited to offer our endorsement,” said Sid Sumner, chairman of the Beef Industry`s Joint Foodservice Committee. “We look forward to working with Domino’s on a long-term basis, as one of the beef industry’s goals is to increase beef offerings at casual dining and quick-service restaurants. Through this promotion, the beef industry`s checkoff investment is leveraged with an industry leader that can offer incremental sales opportunities for beef.”
Domino’s is the recognized world leader in pizza delivery and is the first national pizza company to receive the U.S. beef industry’s endorsement. The Philly Cheese Steak pizza is made with premium quality steak.
This is the first new pizza Domino’s has introduced since January 2000, and starts with a fresh hand-stretched crust. It is then layered with white American cheese slices and smothered with onions, peppers and mushrooms. Tender slices of marinated, premium steak come next, seasoned and cooked as if imported straight from South Philly. Finally, the pizza is topped with a layer of shredded provolone cheese to capture the authentic taste of a Philly Cheese Steak.
“Steak on pizza is a brand new concept for Domino’s, and we`re proud to offer it with our savory Philly Cheese Steak Pizza, made with premium quality steak and smothered in a layer of provolone cheese,” said Ken Calwell, executive vice president, Build the Brand, Domino’s Pizza. “We think our joint promotion with the U.S. beef industry will help convince beef lovers everywhere that this is a quality product they`ve got to try.”
Founded in 1960, Domino’s Pizza operates a network of 7,291 stores in the U.S. and more than 50 countries. Domino’s Pizza, named a Top 100 Megabrand by Advertising Age, had system wide sales of nearly $4 billion in 2002. More information on the company can be found on the Web at www.dominos.com.
