Beef Industry Leaders to Hold Satellite Officers’ Forum at Summer Conference in Denver
Leaders from the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board (CBB) and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) will hold an officers’ forum on Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. MDT that will also be broadcast live via satellite on RFD-TV. The broadcast is being conducted in conjunction with the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver, Aug. 10 – 13.
Beef and cattle producers from around the nation can call into a toll-free number provided on screen to ask questions of and provide input to beef industry leaders. Questions will also be taken from beef producers attending the forum in Denver. During the broadcast, 45 minutes will be dedicated to checkoff programs. The other 45 minutes will focus on policy issues.
Noted farm broadcaster Al Pell will moderate the 90-minute forum that will air live on RFD-TV, which is carried on DirecTV channel 9409, Dish Network channel 379 and on Mediacom and NCTV cable providers.
CBB Chairman Nelson Curry, a producer from Paris, Ky., and CBB Chief Operating Officer Monte Reese, will answer questions regarding beef checkoff-funded programs, such as beef demand, new product development and BSE crisis management. NCBA President Jan Lyons, a producer from Manhattan, Kan., and Chief Executive Officer Terry Stokes will field questions on NCBA policy and membership issues, including trade, animal I.D., and BSE surveillance. McDonald’s Corporation is the sponsor of the NCBA portion of the broadcast, while the CBB portion is funded through the beef checkoff.
A tape of the program will be rebroadcast three times by RFD-TV on August 11 –12 at six-hour intervals following the 5 p.m. MT broadcast. Check local listings for broadcast times. It will also air at 2 p.m. MT on August 14.
