CATTLE INDUSTRY PREPARES FOR HUGE CONVENTION IN SAN ANTONIO

DENVER, Colo. (December 19, 2000) – Plans are solidifying for the 2001 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show in San Antonio, to take place Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.  Titled "Define the Industry: Be Part of the Adventure," the event is expected to be one of the largest ever, with cattle producers gathering from across the country to learn how their operations can better compete in a changing industry and joining forces to address challenges facing the industry.

The trade show is sold out for exhibitors, with nearly 300 companies expected to participate.  Registrations for the Convention and Trade Show are also being submitted at a pace ahead of previous years.  More than 6,000 people are expected to attend.

Organizations participating in the Convention are the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the American National CattleWomen, Inc., National Cattlemen's Foundation and Cattle Fax.  Each organization will conduct its annual meeting at the event, while special combined programs and entertainment will be presented.  A "Cattlemen's College" Feb. 1 will also provide producers with information in a variety of areas for improving their operations.

Among the week's entertainment will be a Grand Finale Evening Event sponsored by Merial on Saturday, Feb. 3, featuring the Bellamy Brothers and Asleep at the Wheel.  Ticket prices for the event will include a full course dinner along with entertainment and dancing.

Although on-site registration is available for the event, discounted pre-registration for the 2001 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show ends Jan. 3.  For more information, contact the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NBCA) Convention and Meetings Department, 303/694-0305
