California and Nevada Cattlemen Will Host Convention Together
The California Cattlemen’s Association and California CattleWomen’s Association will hold their 87th annual convention with the Nevada Cattlemen’s Association and Nevada CattleWomen’s Association. The event will take place Nov. 19-21 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks, Nev. This will be the first time that the groups have come together for a joint convention.
The event begins with two seminars offered on Nov. 19. The California Rangeland Trust will hold a ranch management forum presented by Dr. Donald Jonovic, while Nevada Cattlemen’s Association hosts a seminar with Hal Cannon, which will educate producers on preserving ranching traditions through digital communications. That evening the two groups will meet together in an opening joint session, which will feature Dr. Gary Smith from Colorado State University as the keynote speaker.
The next day will see standing committee meetings for both groups, as well as a joint luncheon with speaker Bryan Dierlam, NCBA director of Regulatory Affairs. The California Cattlemen’s Beef Quality Assurance and Care Committee will hold its annual panel discussion, and the California and Nevada CattleWomen will hold a joint educational session with Dr. Smith, as well as their respective Cowbelle of the Year presentations.
The conference wraps up on Nov. 21 with California Cattlemen and CattleWomen holding their separate board meetings and general membership meetings. The Nevada Cattlemen also will hold their final session of the convention.
The California Cattlemen’s general membership meeting will feature Duane Lenz of Cattle-Fax, who will speak to the group about the current cattle market. Both groups will finish the convention on Friday evening.
