Cattle-Fax Announces Addition of New Analysts
Centennial, Colo. (November 2, 2005) - Cattle-Fax, a Centennial, Colo., based cattle and beef market information and research firm has hired three new analysts:
Troy Applehans is a native of Colorado and a graduate of Oklahoma State University. He is well-versed in the cattle business and has worked extensively with the cow/calf and seedstock segments of the industry. Applehans was previously employed by Cargill Animal Nutrition as a cattle mineral specialist, Future Beef Operations as a member of the cattle procurement team, and as a regional manager for the American Gelbvieh Association. His primary responsibilities will be as a Cattle-Fax market analyst working with cow/calf and stocker members in the Central Plains and western United States, as well as feedlots in the Northwest.
Tod Kalous holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science/agricultural business from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University. He was previously employed by USDA-GIPSA as an agricultural economist. He is originally from a cow/calf and diversified farming operation in northeastern Colorado. At Cattle-Fax, Kalous will work as a research analyst and will focus his efforts on cattle and beef market research and special projects.
Billy Schmitz graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in agricultural business from Colorado State University. Schmitz came to Cattle-Fax after working in the industry as a farm manager and feedlot supervisor in Kansas and Colorado. At Cattle-Fax, he will serve as a market analyst with specific focus on grains and cattle. He will also be working with feedlot members in the Midwest region.
