Cattle Learning Center Series Now Available Online
Self-paced, interactive tool offers valuable information on cattle reproduction
DENVER (March 17, 2005) – Thanks to an educational grant from Pfizer Animal Health, the Cattle Learning Center is ready to launch a valuable, Web-based educational series on cattle reproduction. The Web site features a self-paced, interactive learning module that allows users to move step by step through the course. The site includes illustrations, quizzes, video clips and interactive calculators.
“The Web-based course provides another way for cattlemen to gather information that they can implement in their operation to continue to provide quality beef products,” said Carl Crabtree, a Grangeville, Idaho, cattle producer and chairman of the Joint Producer Education Committee.
The curriculum for the Cattle Learning Center was developed by an experienced team of producers, veterinarians and university specialists. The Web-based course is the latest Cattle Learning Center tool to be made available to cattlemen. Previous efforts have included a four-part series on cattle reproduction that was featured on RFD-TV’s The Cattle Show, two special editions of National Cattlemen magazine that focused on producer education, and co-sponsorship of the meeting series Applied Reproductive Strategies in Beef Cattle.
Cattlemen can access the course at www.cattlelearningcenter.org, or obtain more information by calling the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association at 1-866-BEEF-USA. For producers who may lack sufficient bandwidth to operate the course online, a CD version of the course is also available.
The Cattle Learning Center grant from Pfizer Animal Health is administered by the National Cattlemen’s Foundation, which promotes the future of the beef industry through research and education projects. Pfizer Animal Health’s commitment to producer education is well-established, and includes its longtime sponsorship of Cattlemen’s College® at both the national and state level.
“Pfizer Animal Health has been an outstanding partner to the cattle industry, and this Cattle Learning Center series is just one more example of Pfizer’s commitment to cattle producers,” said Bob Josserand of Hereford, Texas, chairman of the National Cattlemen’s Foundation Board of Trustees.
