Communications, Information to be Part of 2004 Cattle Industry Summer Conference
Communications and information will be two important cornerstones of the Cattle Industry Summer Conference at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Denver, Colo., Aug. 9-13. More than 1,000 people are expected at the conference, which features the summer meetings of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board (CBB), Cattle-Fax and American National CattleWomen, Inc. (ANCW).
Six forum sessions will provide plenty of discussion opportunities, addressing issues of key importance to cattle producers. The sessions will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11. The CBB will provide an update session on checkoff-funded programs from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. that day.
Regional issues of interest to cattlemen will be discussed during the NCBA Regional Caucus Meetings on Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Council meetings will also be held on Wednesday.
In addition to these sessions, the CBB, NCBA, Cattle-Fax and ANCW will hold meetings for their respective members, directors and officers during the week to review current programs of the organizations and discuss plans for fiscal year 2005, which begins Oct. 1. All committee and subcommittee meetings are slated for Thursday, Aug. 12.
The CBB and NCBA will conduct officers’ forums on Wednesday, Aug. 11 starting at 5 p.m. These forums will be broadcast live nationwide via satellite. CBB members and NCBA directors will hold their separate board meetings on Friday, Aug. 13.
Members of ANCW will kick off their own meeting with a “Welcome to Denver” reception on Monday evening, Aug. 9. The organization will also be conducting a silent auction during the week.
On Wednesday night, Aug. 11, the Evening Event will include a dinner with entertainment featuring the Sons of the San Joaquin and Wylie & the Wild West Show. The Sons of the San Joaquin are a family singing trio that pay melodious tribute to all aspects of Western life and history, while Wylie & the Wild West Show is a blend of western swing, classic country, cowboy and folk music.
Headquarters for the summer conference is the Adam’s Mark Hotel, which is offering a special rate for those who register for a room by July 9. In addition, individuals registering for the conference by July 19 will save $25 on the regular conference registration rate.
