DIRECTOR, FOOD AND NUTRITION OUTREACH

 

Reports to:   Executive Director, Brand Public Relations

(based in Denver office)

 

General Responsibilities:

The Director, Food and Nutrition serves as NCBA's liaison to food and nutrition professionals and their associations.  The Director works with staff at the state and national level to create and execute food and nutrition education programs, including foodservice and retail programs.  The Director is the primary staff liaison to the Joint Nutrition & Health Committee and participates in NCBA’s Nutrition and Product Strategy Teams. 

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

·        Develops and directs alliance and partnership opportunities with key third parties including individuals and health organizations in the food and nutrition arena

·        Leads staff who execute food and nutrition influencer and education programs

·        Develops and manages budgets for food and nutrition influencer and education programs

·        Stays current with food and nutrition trends and provides expert counsel on opportunities and challenges related to them

·        Provides nutrition thoughtleadership to both internal and external industry audiences

·        Reviews nutrition information programs developed by other staff within the department, as well, as other departments for accuracy and approach

·        Recommends new projects for nutrition education and communications programs

·        Directs appropriate agencies and consultants in execution of food and nutrition influencer programs

·        Works with State Beef Councils and other allied groups to educate food and nutrition influencers about beef

·        Directs online strategies to reach food and nutrition influencers

·        Serves as a member of NCBA’s Nutrition Strategy Team, which develops NCBA’s nutrition strategies

·        Serves as staff liaison to the Joint Nutrition and Health Committee

·        Provides nutrition counsel to marketing and issues management staff

·        Conducts presentations focused on food and nutrition

·        Serves as one of the beef industry’s spokespeople on nutrition to the news media, food and nutrition influencers

·        Works with Brand Team and Nutrition Strategy Team to build NCBA’s nutrition core competency

·        Interprets the philosophy, objectives and activities of the brand team to the appropriate NCBA and CBB governance as well as to other industry organizations as needed

·        Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

A registered dietitian with at least eight years experience in nutrition communications/marketing. Exceptional communications and relationship-building skills are essential.  Must have experience working in consumer and influencer marketing.  Must have honed presentation and spokesperson skills.  The candidate must be detail-oriented, flexible, self-directed and a team player.  Work assignments are varied and across the board.  She/he should be able to perform well under intense pressure or periodic heavy workloads.  The position requires occasional travel and meeting attendance. The individual who is hired will be evaluated on the results of work performed and will be encouraged to grow within the department as well as within the organization.
