Dec 14 -Beef Checkoff Program Partnership with Quiznos Shatters Projections
The Beef Checkoff Program recently partnered with Quiznos Sub to introduce the Steakhouse Beef Dip Sub. The sandwich has been very popular, and has now earned a spot on Quiznos’ permanent menu. Nelson Curry, a Kentucky cattle producer and Chairman of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, says this joint effort with Quiznos is just the latest example of foodservice partnerships that have greatly benefited beef producers.
Cut #1 :23 Outcue: "...pretty good about that."
Curry added that Quiznos is equally pleased with the success of the promotion, and has found the partnership with the Beef Checkoff Program to be very beneficial.
Cut #2 :26 Outcue: "...out there working for them."
Besides the joint promotion, the Steakhouse Beef Dib Sub has another link to the Beef Checkoff Program. It is made from the round, a cut of beef that until a few years ago, was strictly used for ground beef. Checkoff dollars funded product research that has changed that.
Cut #3 :25 Outcue: "...add some more value.”
The national Beef Checkoff Program is administered by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, a group of 108 beef producers nominated by the Secretary of Agriculture. They represent producers from coast-to-coast and volunteer their time to help identify programs that can help increase beef demand. The checkoff was created in the 1985 Farm Bill, with oversight provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
