Dec. 2, 2003 - Food Editors Quiz Cattlemen on their Business
Suggested Lead:
During an International Food Editors Conference in Denver last month, ranchers were quizzed by editors about what the cattle industry is all about. Kenny Rogers, a beef producer from Yuma, Colorado, was one of the producers who spent time with the editors. He says that after his formal presentation, editors had additional feedback.
Cut #1 :22 Outcue: "...they can use it."
Rogers, whose family has ranched in Colorado for more than 100 years, says the editors had lots of questions.
Cut #2 :19 Outcue: "...enough to ask that."
There was interest in other areas, too.
Cut #3 :18 Outcue: "...more typical questions."
Rogers and other Colorado ranchers were invited to visit with editors through an effort funded by the $1-per-head beef checkoff. The checkoff is administered by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, subject to USDA approval.
