Dec. 8, 2004 Neb. Beef Producer Sees Bright Future for Checkoff: Alexander

J.D. Alexander, a cattle producer from Pilger, Nebr., attended today’s oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the constitutionality of the Beef Checkoff Program.

Alexander was particularly impressed with the justices’ knowledge and interest in the beef checkoff and the beef industry, as evidenced by the questions asked in the proceeding.

While “Beef. It’s what’s for Dinner” and other promotions are well-known, Alexander also emphasized the importance of checkoff- funded research and consumer education.

Alexander sees a bright future for the checkoff, and feels it is essential to the long-term economic health of the beef industry.
