Job Description
Executive Director, Public Lands Council (PLC)
Director, Federal Lands, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA)
Reports to: Officers of the Public Lands Council
VP, Government Affairs, NCBA
Location: Washington D.C.
General Responsibilities
Reports to both the Public Lands Council (PLC) and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) representing the cattle and sheep producers in western states on resource issues affecting their operations
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure permits issues by the federal land-managing agencies to graze public lands
- Represent the producers on such issues as the Clean Water Act, estate tax, Endangerd Species Act, property rights and other matters that affect livestock production in the west as reflected in policy enacted by the PLC
- Manage litigation involving the PLC
- Staff federal lands committee for NCBA and otherwise work closely with the NCBA team in Washington D.C. to achieve the goals of the association
- Oversee the PLC-an organization with its own policy, board, budget and meetings
- Provides content for 3-4 national meetings annually
Qualifications
3-5 years lobbying in town or working on the hill involving issues, preferably public lands issues. Must have a proven ability to successfully work issues in a bipartisan manner. Strong skills in working well with a board and in an association. Law degree a plus. Organization, collaboration and leadership skills required.
