Farm Bill Hearings

The Senate Agriculture Committee is hosting six field hearings on Farm Bill development.  The first hearing took place June 23 in Albany, Ga.  Jim Strickland, president of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, testified on behalf of NCBA and Georgia Cattlemen.

NCBA President Mike John was personally invited to testify in Cape Girardeau, Mo., by Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.).

Hearings also are scheduled for July 21 in Harrisburg, Pa., and July 24 in Ankeny, Iowa.

The House Agriculture Committee will hold additional field hearings in the coming weeks on farm policy development.  “The information the committee gathers at these hearings will help us as we begin to consider the next Farm Bill and we look forward to continued dialogue with our farmers and ranchers as we move through this process,” says Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.).  Upcoming hearings are scheduled for:

  Saturday, July 22, 9 a.m., Marshall, Minn.

  Monday, July 24, 9 a.m., Scottsburg, Ind.

  Monday, July 31, 9:30 a.m., MDT in Wall, S.D.

Monday, July 31, 9 a.m. in Sioux Center, Iowa
