On Saturday, Feb. 3, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association members concluded the 2007 Cattle Industry Convention in Nashville with the election of new officers. Waynesville, N.C., cattleman John Queen was elected president. Queen said the successful convention, attended by a near-record 6500 cattlemen, sets the stage for an exciting year ahead.

Cut #1 :11  Outcue: "...ready to go."

Queen said policies approved by NCBA members at this year’s convention covered some difficult issues such as ethanol and international trade. But every member’s voice was heard.

Cut #2 :12  Outcue: "...it’s just great."

NCBA membership has surged by 75 percent in the Southeast region this past year, and by more than 8 percent nationwide. Queen said more and more cattlemen are learning the value of an effective national association.

Cut #3 :12  Outcue: "...part of this."

Queen has high praise for outgoing NCBA President Mike John of Huntsville, Mo., whose term ended on Saturday.

Cut #4 :14  Outcue: "...as I go down it."

Queen’s election as NCBA president highlights more than 30 years of cattle industry leadership, but it’s an honor he never could have imagined years ago.

Cut #5 :30  Outcue: "...fighting for our rights."
