Fri., Sep. 6 - Cattlemen Focus on Consumers Through Mark of Quality

Suggested Lead:

The beef checkoff-funded Mark of Quality Program allows cattle producers to identify beef products that meet consumer expectations for convenience and deliver great eating experiences.  Managed by the industry’s Brand-Like Commission, it provides manufacturers a seal they can use – if their products measure up.  James Herring, a cattle feeder from Amarillo, Texas, is chairman of the Commission.  He says the convenient product category has come a long way since his group was formed five years ago.

Cut #1     :42       Outcue: "...experience every time."

According to Herring, the Mark of Quality has enjoyed a huge amount of success in terms of its value to the industry.

Cut #2     :26       Outcue: "...more and better products."

Herring says that while producers benefit, the program is not about them.

Cut #3     :25       Outcue: "...us win that battle."

The Brand Like Commission met last month in Chicago to evaluate 10 more products from companies wanting to use the beef industry’s Mark of Quality.
