Young people are a critical element of a vibrant cattle industry. That’s why at its recent mid-year meeting the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association established a Young Producers Council for future leaders of the industry and association. NCBA President Andy Groseta says the Council addresses one of his key platforms as leader of the association.

According to Groseta, having a strong membership base is crucial, but just as important is having young people ready to take on leadership roles.

Also addressing the need for a focus on the future will be special programs at the Annual Convention and Trade Show in January that are specially tailored for youth.

The 2009 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show will be held in Phoenix Jan. 28 through Feb. 1.
