Even with some strict product limitations, Japan’s resumption of U.S. beef imports is great news for America’s beef industry. U.S. Meat Export Federation President and CEO Phil Seng says USMEF is ready to begin rebuilding this market.

Seng outlined steps that have been taken to maintain confidence among consumers about the safety of U.S. beef, efforts which have been successful in other Asian markets.

He emphasized how important it has been to market U.S. beef internationally, even when many major markets were closed. It’s the only way to compete effectively with competitors, many of which have become very aggressively in committing resources to their international marketing efforts.
