Life-Long Ag Veteran Assumes Role as NCBA Chief Economist

Washington, D.C. (January 27, 2003) – Kansas native Gregg Doud will take over the post of Chief Economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), NCBA’s Center for Government Affairs announced today.

Raised on a cattle, hog and grain farm near Mankato, Kan., Doud began filling his resume with agriculture posts early in life.  Previous positions include Research and Market Analyst for U.S. Wheat Associates, Vice President of Information Services for World Perspectives, Inc., an international trade policy and commodity market intelligence wire service for global grain trading firms, and Vice President for Archer Daniels Midland-Agri LLC, working with the development of African ag commodity trading and infrastructure.  Most recently, Doud was employed by the American Soybean Association as Director of Trade Analysis for International Marketing.

“Gregg knows first-hand the concerns of ranchers and farmers, and his understanding of complex economic and trade issues will prove to be an invaluable resource for our members,” says Chandler Keys, NCBA’s vice president of government affairs.  “Gregg’s knowledge and experience are a perfect match for this position, and we are excited to have him on our team.”

In his new capacity, Doud will focus on economics, trade, industry structure, and a broad array of live-cattle marketing and international policy issues.  He will communicate with an array of audiences regarding financial conditions, industry economics and marketing/trade issues and policies for the beef industry.

Gregg Doud holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry from Kansas State University, and a Masters in Ag Economics also from Kansas State.  His first day will be January 28.
