MANAGER, FOOD & NUTRITION PUBLIC RELATIONS
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association

Reports to: Director, Food & Nutrition Public Relations
(Based in Denver office)

General Responsibilities:

  • The Manager of Food & Nutrition Public Relations is responsible for serving as the primary food and nutrition public relations project coordinator. Under the direction of the Director of Food & Nutrition Public Relations, manages the food and nutrition news bureau outreach and execution.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manages the food and nutrition news bureau programs by coordinating team review processes, assuring project timetables are met, assessing priorities and facilitating special requests as needed.
  • Assists in writing and editing messaging and media materials related to food and nutrition public relations.
  • Manages content on BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com newsroom in coordination with the Digital Marketing Manager. 
  • Responsible for tracking overall food and nutrition public relations results such as media monitoring and measurement.
  • Works closely with the Culinary Services and Food & Nutrition team to help identify news hooks, story angles, coordinate work with third party experts as well as fulfill beef recipe and photography needs.
  • Provides public relations support, copy development and coordination, as needed, on Advertising added-value programming.
  • Ensures that food and nutrition public relations resources are up-to-date and accessible via BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com and the State Partner Extranet.
  • Responds in a timely manner to information requests received from the media, NCBA staff, state beef council and state cattle association staff, and industry stakeholder organizations.
  • Works closely with Public Relations, Advertising and New Media as well as Channel Marketing on promotional opportunities, so that food and nutrition public relations efforts are aligned with the goals and strategy of the Consumer Marketing team. 
  • Together with the Director of Food and Nutrition Public Relations, works with agencies and other contractors to assure that work adheres to agreed-upon targets, strategies and messages, that budget is properly monitored and controlled, and all plans are implemented as scheduled.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the food and nutrition public relations efforts and modify plans as needed to address results.
  • Acts as a beef brand steward by ensuring food and nutrition programs are represented consistently with the brand image from a visual and messaging perspective.
  • Involves the national and state staff, beef producer committees and agencies prior to proceeding with implementation to assure alignment by stakeholders.
  • Works with State Services to meet state partner needs related to food and nutrition media or collateral.
  • Communicates national food and nutrition plans to beef producers, providing information for updates, annual report, convention brochures, media interviews, etc.
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and tools for communicating through the media and online.
  • Contributes to internal teams and provides presentation support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related degree and one to three years of experience in public relations, media relations, communications or journalism/reporting/writing. Candidate should have strong skills in project management, writing and editing, media relations, and relationship management.  Preference will be given to candidates who have food and/or nutrition experience.

Candidate should have strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint presentation capabilities are required. Ability to work successfully with teams on multiple projects under tight deadlines and high attention to detail is a necessity. Understanding of new media tools and presentation skills are a plus. Business travel expected.
