Mon., Oct 14 02 - NCBA Helps Ensure Drought Victims' Livestock Compensation

Suggested Lead:

NCBA has been in regular contact with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to ensure the Livestock Compensation Program is implemented quickly and equitably, and is user-friendly for drought victims. According to Bryan Dierlam, NCBA’s director of Legislative Affairs, the ‘check is in the mail’ for drought victims, or should be.

Cut #1       :19            Outcue: "...associated with the drought."

Dierlam says problems with implementing the program have arisen, including some counties and producers excluded that shouldn’t have been.

Cut #2       :26            Outcue: "...been declared a disaster."

According to Dierlam, NCBA is optimistic that these problems will be corrected.

Cut #3       :29            Outcue: "...given the funds available."

Dierlam says NCBA’s main interest is in protecting the viability of people in cattle business.

Cut #4       :12            Outcue: "...cattle producers out there."

NCBA... working to increase profit opportunities for cattle and beef producers by enhancing the business climate and building consumer demand.
