Mon., Oct 28 02 -- Program for Young Girls Getting Beef Message Across

Last week at a Girl Scout Convention in California the beef industry had a chance to showcase a new checkoff-funded program for Junior Girl Scouts intended to teach young girls 8 to 11 years old the importance of good nutrition.  According to Betty Ann Redson, associate director of nutrition communications for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the girls in this age group have really embraced the new “Fit for a Princess” program.

Redson says testing conducted on young girls both before and after participating in the program show it’s very effective.

According to Redson, knowledge of beef’s specific nutritional benefits also increased as a result of the program.

 

Cut #3    :13       Outcue: "...zinc, iron and protein."

 

According to Redson, the good news for producers is that young girls getting good news about good nutrition.

The “Fit for a Princess” program is part of a checkoff-funded nutrition information effort conducted on behalf of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board and state beef councils by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
