Resignation of Lester M. Crawford, FDA Commissioner

“America’s cattlemen are saddened by the news of Dr. Lester M. Crawford’s resignation from his post as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“As a veterinarian having worked in many different sectors, Dr. Crawford applied his diverse background in academia, agriculture and scientific research to contribute mightily to the FDA and for the public good.
“His unwavering commitment to protecting animal and public health, as well as enhancing food safety for consumers across the country, led to sound, science-based policy for which we all strive in our work each day.
“The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association salutes the service of Dr. Crawford, thanks him for his tenure of exemplary government service and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach in his capacity as acting commissioner of the FDA.”
