Oct. 18, 2004 - Acts to Benefit Rancher Tax Outlook Pass Congress
Passage of the American Jobs Creation Act might not sound like a boost to cattlemen who make their living off the land, but it is. According to Bryan Dierlam, director of legislative affairs for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the Act was aggressively supported by the cattle industry and NCBA.
Cut #1 :37 Outcue: "...how it can help."
Cattlemen were supportive and worked hard to get passed a second element of the bill.
Cut #2 :21 Outcue: "...depreciate it over time."
Dierlam says when you’re deeply involved in the process, finding these openings is possible – and this one was especially beneficial to the cattle industry.
Cut #3 :42 Outcue: "...the year of purchase."
IN addition to the tax benefits, cattlemen across the country in hurricane and drought areas are finding disaster relief as a result of actions taken by Congress before they recessed. NCBA and its staff were involved in these actions, working with the legislators and their aids to assure protection of rancher interests during deliberations.
President Bush is expected to sign the bills.
