Oct. 25, 2004 - Japanese, U.S. Agree on Resumption of Beef Trade

Japanese consumers want U.S. beef, and the governments of the two countries have come to an understanding about how to make their wishes come true.  Gregg Doud, chief economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, explains.

Cut #1     :20        Outcue: "...U.S. economy overall."

According to Doud, it was a slow process, but deliberate.

Cut #2     :10        Outcue: "...become a reality."

Doud says credit for making it possible goes to the Bush Administration.

Cut #3     :25        Outcue: "...of time and effort."

The personal attention paid to this issue by President Bush was unique.

Cut #4     :27        Outcue: "...are eternally grateful."

Announcement of the agreement was made this weekend.
