Oct. 26, 2004 - Pt. II - Door Unlocked on U.S. Beef Exports to Japan
The U.S. beef industry is excited that the U.S. and Japanese governments have reached an agreement under which U.S. beef exports to Japan can resume. Gregg Doud is chief economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He says it’s been a long road, but the door is now unlocked.

Bottom line is that U.S. beef continues to be wholesome.

Doud says the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has been at the forefront in encouraging a resolution to this challenge.

According to Doud, credit for the border opening can be laid at the feet of the Bush Administration, whose members took a personal interest in seeing to it that the interests of U.S. cattle producers were protected, and that beef exports to key international customers were made a high priority.
