Pieces Being Put into Place for 2003 Cattle Industry Convention

Plans for the cattle industry’s 2003 convention are falling into place as the 2003 Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show prepares to hit the ground in Nashville, Tenn., Jan. 29 to Feb. 1.

In addition to fascinating speakers and key annual meetings of participating organizations – the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the American National CattleWomen, Inc. and Cattle-Fax – both educational and informational sessions will be held for attendees.

These sessions include the Cattlemen’s College®, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, held on Wednesday, Jan. 29.  The college will feature classes separated into three tracks designed to educate producers in marketing, production or resource management.

The opening general session, sponsored by Fort Dodge Animal Health, also will be held on Jan. 29.  It will feature Hugh Sidey, former political and White House correspondent with Time magazine, who will provide an insider’s look at the new makeup of Congress and how it and the Bush Administration will impact the cattle industry in 2003.

NCBA councils and policy committees, as well as joint committees, will meet on Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, January 31.  At these meetings policy and programs will be discussed and voted on.  The meetings are open to all registered attendees, although only committee members may vote.

The NCBA-PAC Gala on Jan. 30 will feature six-time Grammy winner Ronnie Milsap and songwriter Whispering Bill Anderson.  The event, being held at the Country Music Hall of Fame, is sponsored by Fort Dodge Animal Health.

The Cattle-Fax Outlook Seminar, sponsored by Merial and DTN, will be held on Jan. 31.  This always-popular session, free to Cattle-Fax members, will cover issues of critical importance to serious cattle producers and feeders.

The Board of Directors meetings for the Cattlemen’s Beef Board and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, sponsored by Elanco Animal Health, will be held on Saturday morning, Feb. 1.  An awards program lunch honoring NCBA Top Hand Members, the National Cattlemen’s Foundation Beef Industry Scholarship Award winner, sponsored by Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and others will be held that day.  The event is sponsored by Merial.

The closing general session for stakeholders at the event will be held the afternoon of Feb. 1, and will include the NCBA Annual Membership Meeting.

Serving as the setting for the Grand Finale Event entertainment will be the cherished Grand Ole Opry, which blends the excitement of a live audience, the world’s longest running live radio show and a mix of talent to create a uniquely American experience.    Ford Trucks sponsors the Grand Finale Event.

Early registration for the event ends Jan. 2.  For more information, contact the NCBA Convention & Meetings Department at 303/694-0305.
