Risk Management Proposals Sought

Projects that help farm and ranch families succeed through targeted risk management strategies may be eligible for funding through the Western Center for Risk Management.  The Western Center will grant awards, usually between $5,000 and $50,000, however there is no absolute upper or lower limit on the funds provided to a single project.  The money will be given to projects conducted between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008.  Pre-proposals are due by 5 p.m., Dec. 14.

To apply, go to the Western Center Web site at http://westRME.wsu.edu and select Competitive Grants. The two-stage online grants application process (pre-proposal and full proposal application) is explained in the Western Center  2007 Request for Applications, which is the binding document on application instructions. Applicants who read and follow the instructions provided in the Request for Applications and the Proposal Resources will have a far greater chance of success in receiving funds from the Western Center.

Qualified private and public groups, organizations and institutions with a demonstrated capacity to develop, carry out and manage educational projects that create targeted results for agricultural producers and their families are encouraged to apply. The Western Center serves Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the U.S. affiliated Pacific Islands.

Proposals that cross regional boundaries will be accepted.  For information on the boundaries, click on Regional Centers.

For information, call the Western Center at (509) 477-2168 or e-mail warnerj@wsu.edu
