“NCBA Files Comments Supporting Re-establishment, Improvement of Mandatory Price Reporting: WOODALL”
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) filed comments this week with USDA on re-establishing the mandatory livestock price reporting program.
Colin Woodall, NCBA’s executive director of legislative affairs, says NCBA has fully supported the mandatory price reporting program since its creation in 1999, because it helps ensure a more fair and transparent marketplace.
Cut #1 :24 Outcue: "... your own market action."
Woodall explains that mandatory price reporting was reauthorized by Congress in October 2006, but USDA must issue new regulations before the program can be resumed on a mandatory basis.
Cut #2 :22 Outcue: "… what the market’s doing."
Cattlemen did recommend a few improvements in the comments filed with USDA. These include greater disclosure of the information being collected and how it is used, as well as an increased focus on the relationship between cattle prices and retail beef prices.
Cut #3 :33 Outcue: "…are getting back home."
