Mandatory Price Reporting is an important tool for cattle producers to have open access to price information and market data. The current price reporting law is schedule to expire Sept. 30. Colin Woodall, manager of legislative affairs for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, says this is a very critical issue for cattlemen.

Cut #1         :23         Outcue: "...as being important."

NCBA led the effort to get the legislation passed, and then to get a one-year extension last year. Now, the push is on to extend the law for another 5 years.

Cut #2         :31         Outcue: "...in their local markets."

The House appears to be very supportive of the five-year extension, but some Senators only want the program extended one year, so it can be reviewed.

Cut #3         :41         Outcue: "...concerns with the program."

NCBA’s position is that a one-year extension is not enough, and Woodall called on cattlemen across the nation to get involved.

Cut #4         :37         Outcue: "...go back and re-create."



NCBA... working to increase profit opportunities for cattle and beef producers by enhancing the business climate and building consumer demand.
