Tues., Dec. 03 02 -- CBB Chairman Travels Country to Inform Producers

Suggested Lead:

From Hawaii and California to the East Coast, the chairman of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board has traveled the country the last couple of months to visit with beef producers and let them know about the organization and its efforts.  Dee Lacey, a beef producer from Paso Robles (PASS-Oh RO-bulls), Calif., says the Beef Board’s efforts in producer communications are founded in law.

Cut #1     :19       Outcue: "...in this business anymore."

Lacey says she’s telling producers that the checkoff addresses profitability by influencing beef demand, but cattlemen should realize it’s not the only thing that’s impacting the bottom line.

Cut #2     :35       Outcue: "...to take out there."

According to Lacey, one of the highlights of her coast-to-coast trips was a stop in Kansas City for the Annual Convention of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, where she visited with dozens of reporters who have a finger on the pulse of their communities.

Cut #3     :35       Outcue: "...with those people."

In addition to her call on broadcasters, during the last two months Lacey has visited with cattlemen on Hawaii and in California, with dairymen in Wisconsin and Minnesota and with veal producers in Pennsylvania, among others.
