Wed., Dec 11 02 -- Beef Board Committee Meets to Review Programs

The Executive Committee of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board is meeting this week to address issues surrounding the beef checkoff, which the Board administers. The Committee meets six times a year. According to Andy Tucker, a Florida beef producer and chairman of the Executive Committee, this meeting is designed to streamline the entire checkoff administration process.

Tucker says there will be several items on the agenda this week.

According to Tucker, producers on the 108-member Cattlemen’s Beef Board select the producers to represent them on the Executive Committee.

Tucker says producers selected to sit on the Executive Committee are representative of the entire country.

Tucker is also vice chairman of the Beef Board. The Cattlemen’s Beef Board is appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture and nominated by beef producer groups from throughout the United States.
