Wed., Sep 11 02 - Beef Producers Urged To Learn More About Their Checkoff

Suggested Lead:

Beef producers would benefit by learning more about their $1-per-head checkoff, and by participating in decisions affecting it, says Paris, Kentucky cattleman Nelson Curry. Curry is secretary-treasurer of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, which oversees the national beef checkoff program. According to Curry, many beef producers have misconceptions about the program.

Cut #1        :28            Outcue: "...the Act and the Order."

Curry says checkoff funds can be used only for specific purposes.

Cut #2        :19            Outcue: "...to research production items."

According to Curry, producers who seek information about the checkoff can easily find it.

Cut #3        :20            Outcue: "...if they so desire."
