A One-of-a-Kind Opportunity

NCBA’s public policy internship gives college juniors, seniors and graduate students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work on behalf of America’s cattlemen and women in Washington, D.C. Interns work alongside NCBA’s lobbying team, regulatory experts, communications team and political action committee to ensure legislative and regulatory actions taken inside the nation’s Beltway don’t cause harm to the cattle industry.

This isn’t just about checking a box to complete an internship. NCBA public policy interns gain valuable skills to prepare them for a career after college, firsthand exposure to the public policy process and an opportunity to live in our nation’s Capital.

Internships are offered summer,
spring and fall semesters.

Upcoming Dates:

Summer 2013 internship:
Application available: February 4 - March 4

January 6 - May 9
Application available: September 16 - October 14

Summer 2014 Internship:
May 19 - August 22
Application available: February 10 - March 10

“Unlike previous internships, my time at NCBA wasn’t about finding what I didn’t want my career to be. At NCBA my eyes were opened to a whole host of exciting career paths I never knew existed. Within weeks of starting my internship, I knew I wanted to be a part of the close-knit agricultural community in Washington, D.C. The experience I gained and connections I made at NCBA have helped me to do just that.”

- Caleb Crosswhite, Summer 2011 Intern, U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture Clerk

"My internship provided me a unique viewpoint of the beef cattle industry, while also allowing me to interact with Congressmen, attend meetings on Capitol Hill and work with trade representatives. It was a crash course to working in D.C. and should be experienced by all college students."

-Jeralyn Stephens, Spring 2011 Intern, NCBA Manager of Web Content

Jeralyn Stephens and U.S. Congressman Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.) at a NCBA-PAC event.

“I never really paid much attention to politics and legislation but after working with NCBA, I realized the importance of being active in legislation and how it impacts farms and ranches like the ones back home.”

- Alice White, Summer 2011 Intern, Oklahoma State University Senior

A One-of-a-Kind City

NCBA’s office of government affairs is located in the heart of our nations capital at 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, just blocks from the White House, U.S. Capitol and historical monuments. Interns will often be going between Capitol Hill and the office, learning both the streets and the metro system. Take a run along the Tidal Basin and see the Cherry Blossoms in the spring, night tours of the monuments in summer and the White House Christmas tree in winter. The Smithsonian museums are free to the public.

Interns get the chance to view Washington as a Washingtonian.

The internship is offered during spring, summer and fall sessions. Interested students should email internship@beef.org for more information.

“I never really paid much attention to politics and legislation but after working with NCBA, I realized the importance of being active in legislation and how it impacts farms and ranches like the ones back home.”

- Alice White, Summer 2011 Intern, Oklahoma State University Senior

NCBA’s office of government affairs is located in the heart of our nations capital at 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, just blocks from the White House, U.S. Capitol and historical monuments. Interns will often be going between Capitol Hill and the office, learning both the streets and the metro system. Take a run along the Tidal Basin and see the Cherry Blossoms in the spring, night tours of the monuments in summer and the White House Christmas tree in winter. The Smithsonian museums are free to the public.

Interns get the chance to view Washington as a Washingtonian.
