Downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of retail excursions making Denver the shopping capital of the Rocky Mountain West. Located in the heart of Denver minutes from downtown, Cherry Creek Shopping Center is the Rocky Mountain region's most exciting shopping environment: Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie, Cole Haan, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Tommy Bahamas, Urban Outfitters, Tiffany & Co. and more than 160 distinctive stores and restaurants.
Built in 1982, the 16th Street mall is a tree-lined, pedestrian promenade of red-and-gray granite that runs through the center of downtown. An Outdoor Adventure & Pro Sports Paradise. Denver has the nation's largest city park system and 850 miles of urban trails, perfect for exploring on two feet or two wheels. There are dude ranches and fly-fishing for outdoor enthusiasts and whitewater kayaking or rafting to whet the appetites of adventure seekers. Take in the sights from above on a balloon or helicopter tour, or on the ground with horseback riding or an off-road adventure. And you can be in the Rocky Mountains in 20 minutes, where hiking, snowboarding and more await – sometimes all in the same day. The Mile High City is also home to no less than eight pro sports teams. Baseball, basketball, soccer, football, hockey, lacrosse, rugby – Denver's got it all.
Denver’s biggest sports headlines of recent years were the result of the Colorado Rockies’ rollercoaster 2007 season, which saw the team battling its way tenaciously from the lower reaches of the National League West standings all the way to the N.L. West Pennant – and the team’s first-ever World Series appearance. With much of last year’s lineup remaining, 2008 should be an equally exciting season. The Rockies – nicknamed the Blake Street Bombers – play home games at Coors Field in lower downtown Denver (“LoDo”), which offers the nostalgic feel of a classic ballpark mixed with state of the art technology. The season runs from April to September. The Rockies play the Pittsburgh Pirates July 17-20. For tickets go to the Colorado Rockies Official website: www.rockies.mlb.com

Arts & Culture. Denver has always been a town that embraces diverse cultural experiences and creative endeavors; after all, the city had an opera before it had a school. Today, you can experience Denver’s thriving art scene at local galleries, dozens of public museums and the Denver Performing Arts Complex, which includes ten venues for theatre, opera, ballet and the symphony. Discover the creative vitality that makes Denver a great place to live and to visit.
Colorado History Museum - Here you can imagine traveling across the plains in covered wagons, experience what it was like mining in the Rocky Mountains, and see what life was like in Denver’s earliest days. Galleries inside the Colorado History Museum feature exhibitions on life and culture in the American West with fascinating collections, detailed dioramas, historic photographs, artifacts and more.
The Denver Art Museum - The new Hamilton Building, designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, is a piece of art in and of itself. The striking modern design of titanium peaks and shards that mimic the Rocky Mountains has changed the city’s landscape. The original 28-sided building was designed by Gio Ponti of Milan Italy. Inside you’ll find an outstanding collection of Native American art and more than 30,000 pieces of art.
Rockmount Ranch Wear is a rarity these days – a manufacturer of shirts, hats and accessories – all made in the U.S. It’s a rarity in other ways as well – the business is multi-generational – still run by Jack A. Weil, now 107 years old and considered the oldest daily working CEO in the nation, if not the world. Many of his innovations, including the first commercially produced bolo tie, and the first Western shirts with snaps are standards in the industry. Located in a beautiful, historic landmark building in Lower Downtown, dating from 1909, Rockmount Ranch wear is a true Western icon, a major factor in the popularization of Western wear as legitimate American fashion throughout the world. Its signature look is the longest production shirt design in America and is even displayed at the Smithsonian Institution.
