Director, Beef Quality Assurance

Location: National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Denver Office
Reports to: Senior Vice-President of Industry & Member Services

General Responsibilities:
Provides the leadership and vision to establish National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) as the industry leader in Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and producer education; develops and implements a producer education plan for NCBA consistent with NCBA’s organizational plan and the Industry Long Range Plan.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Provides oversight and leadership for the planning, execution, and evaluation of producer 
    education and BQA programs.
• Responsible for the development of  funding authorization request and staff resources to 
    develop and implement a holistic Beef Quality Assurance program.
• Provides strategic counsel to senior management and other NCBA staff and producer 
    leadership on Beef Quality Assurance.
• Serves as spokesperson for NCBA on appropriate issues.
• Performs required supervisory duties with staff, such as ongoing coaching and mentoring, 
    strategic direction and performance evaluations.
• Counsels state partners and organizations on producer education and BQA programs.
• Provides oversight and leadership in the development of educational programs and materials for 
    NCBA members, state partners/organizations and other appropriate audiences.
• Provide quantitative evaluation of the performance of the Beef Quality Assurance Programs and 
    projects.
• Builds and maintains key relationships with outside educational institutions and resources, e.g., 
    academia, extension service, veterinarian groups, agriculture organizations, financial related 
    businesses, allied industry technical representatives, etc.
• Builds and maintains key relationships with internal staff teams.
• Provide team support and collaboration on appropriate business and strategy teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field with an emphasis on beef cattle production.  A minimum of 10 years industry or related experience.  Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little supervision. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of information transfer in agriculture.  Demonstrated leadership in new technology opportunities for Producer Education Programs and Initiatives.  Must have a strong understanding of the production, processing and marketing segments associated with the cattle industry from farm/ranch to consumer. Competent in the basic sciences and have the ability to review and assess scientific literature and relate to practical applications in the industry. Also must be able to effectively interface with beef producers, the scientific community, extension, nutrition and veterinary professionals, allied industry, government personnel and industry influencers.  Strong platform and presentation skills a must. Ability to recognize and execute growth opportunities for producer education. Must have strong people, management, communication and computer skills. Moderate travel required
