What We Do
The Beef Checkoff Program is a producer-funded marketing and research program designed to increase beef demand both domestically and internationally.
Funds are spent by approved organizations under contract to the Beef Promotion Operating Committee (BPOC), and both collection and spending of funds is overseen by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
In addition to supplying input through Qualified State Beef Councils, the NCBA Federation of State Beef Councils is an approved contractor to the BPOC. Its staff conducts programs in promotion; marketing; new product development; safety and consumer research; education; nutrition and industry information; and other areas as directed by beef producers serving on Joint Beef Checkoff Committees. These efforts are authorized by the BPOC and approved by the CBB and the USDA.
