2005 Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show Blends Work and Play

DENVER (November 15, 2004) – While cattle producers will have access to critical industry information and policy discussions by attending the 2005 Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show, opportunities for fun and entertainment are also available to attendees and their families. The event will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, from Wednesday, Feb. 2 to Saturday, Feb. 5. The theme for the convention and trade show is “Riding Point for the Industry.” Registration is currently open.

More than 6,000 cattle industry participants are expected at the annual convention and trade show, which will be hosted again by five organizations: the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board, American National CattleWomen, Inc., National Cattlemen’s Foundation and Cattle-Fax.

Cattlemen's College®, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, leads off the educational offerings of Convention on Wednesday morning, Feb. 2. Classes in the areas of marketing, resource management and production will enable participants to customize a full day of education to their specific needs. Wednesday afternoon will bring the Cattle-Fax Outlook Seminar, sponsored by Purina Mills, LLC and Pfizer Animal Health, which will offer a look ahead at cattle markets. It's free to Cattlemen's College® registrants and to Cattle-Fax members.

San Antonio is internationally known as a friendly and exciting host city for visitors and convention attendees. The famous Riverwalk provides dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities in a beautiful and unique downtown setting. Just a brief stroll from the Riverwalk, a visit to the Alamo provides guests with insights into the famous battle that helped shape the history of Texas and the entire United States. The Alamo is also just one of the featured sites of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park – more commonly known as the Mission Trail. The Mission Trail extends to four additional historic mission sites, located on a nine-mile stretch of the San Antonio River.

San Antonio offers many opportunities for recreation and family entertainment. Mild temperatures and more than 40 golf courses make San Antonio one of the nation’s premier, year-round golf destinations.  Visitors can tour Natural Bridge Caverns for a magnificent and educational underground adventure.  Families can also enjoy a visit to the San Antonio Zoological Gardens and Aquarium, ranked as one of the finest zoos in the nation.

Additional attractions include the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum, which is sure to be a hit with cattlemen and their families. The Buckhorn features an unmatched collection of unique Wild West memorabilia, big game trophies and wildlife exhibits. For evening entertainment, San Antonio’s Hispanic heritage is on display in the shopping, dining and nightlife offered in Market Square and Farmers Market Plaza. Planned visitors and children’s tours will enable convention guests to tour some of San Antonio's most interesting attractions in the company of other attendees.
