DENVER (September 8, 1999) - The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and Bayer Animal Health are seeking a “Beef Innovator of the Year” to be the recipient of the first-ever beef industry Vision Award. A Vision Award will be presented to an exceptional innovator in each of NCBA’s seven regions, as well as to an overall national winner. Recipients will be recognized at the Cattle Industry Annual Convention and Trade Show in Phoenix, Jan. 26-29, 2000, and each will be able to name an NCBA affiliate to receive a $500 cash award.
Vision Awards recognize beef innovators who have incorporated high-tech products or procedures (invented, developed, or applied) into their operation/entity that have increased profitability and efficiency. The products and/or practices do not necessarily have to be new, but they must play an instrumental part in lowering costs and improving efficiency and profits.
All segments of the beef industry are eligible for the Vision Award, including cow-calf producers, feeders, alliances, packers, chain store meat departments, and branded food companies. A nomination may be submitted by any organization or individual directly associated with the beef industry. Individuals may also nominate themselves. Entry applications may be received by sending nominations to: The Vision Award, Attn: Bonnie Kibbe, P.O. Box 3469, Englewood, CO 80155. Completed applications are due Oct. 15, 1999.
While this program is overseen by the National Cattlemen’s Foundation, judging will be conducted by an anonymous panel of beef industry professionals. This award was formerly the Cattle Businessman of the Year Award.
