NEW BEEF ORGANIZATION ADOPTS LOGO

DENVER, CO -- A logo for the new National Cattlemen's Beef
Association (NCBA) has been announced by the association's transition
executive committee.

The logo, a graphic symbol of the cattle and beef industry's
unified national organization, was developed and approved at a recent
meeting of the transition executive committee.  NCBA was formed
through the consolidation of the National Live Stock and Meat
Board/Beef Industry Council and the National Cattlemen's Association
and also incorporates many aspects of the Beef Board through a joint
operating agreement.  The new organization is scheduled to begin
functioning on Jan. 30, 1996.

"The prominence of the word 'BEEF' in the logo reflects the
thrust of the industry's long range plan," said John Lacey, co-
chairman of the transition executive committee.  "As indicated in the
plan's vision statement and objectives, cattlemen are determined to
make beef more competitive and to increase beef's share of the market
for meat."

"The neat and attractive logo is a clear statement of what NCBA
is all about," said Jim Webb, co-chairman of the committee.  "The
stylized map of the U. S. reflects the inclusiveness of the
organization, representing all cattle and beef producers, all across
the country.  It reflects our pride in what we do."

The NCBA transition executive committee includes members of the
executive committees of NCA and the Meat Board, plus representatives
of the Cattlemen's Beef Board, the U. S. Meat Export Federation and
the American National CattleWomen.  The committee is overseeing the
transition to a single, consumer-responsive organization,
representing all segments of the beef industry.
