FIELD REPRESENTATIVE, NORTH CENTRAL PLAINS
Reports To: Vice President, Affiliate Relations and Member Services
(Based in the field)
General Responsibilities:
Advance NCBA services to membership, primarily in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, focusing on member retention and recruitment, while supporting and strengthening state cattlemen’s affiliates. Serve as a NCBA spokesperson and representative to cattle producers, state affiliates and livestock markets in selected region. Coordinate and execute NCBA membership strategy, communication and marketing activities specific to these regions and represent NCBA at meetings and events. Extensive travel required.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed membership growth and retention objectives in region.
- Maintain close communication with the membership staff team, effectively updating progress against membership objectives and budget.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of issues and opportunities impacting the cattle industry, western cattlemen and their state affiliates.
- Develop a close working relationship with officers, staff and key volunteers within each state. Establish membership teams in each state.
- Serve as a spokesperson to cattlemen, representing NCBA at key meetings and events including state meetings, auctions and large sales.
- Initiate and coordinate a NCBA membership strategy that is consistent with NCBA’s overall membership direction and supportive of state affiliate membership.
- In conjunction with state affiliates, extend national membership, communication and producer education initiatives to these regions.
- Educate and inform producers of national and state activities, reinforcing their relevance to cattlemen.
- Represent these regions in NCBA planning sessions regarding communications, membership and public policy.
- Participate in state affiliate activities and planning concerning membership, communications, producer education and Livestock Marketing Council.
- Gather ideas and provide content and photos for NCBA and state affiliate communications.
- Collaborate with other NCBA staff as needed, particularly those in membership, producer education and public policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, animal science, agricultural business, business administration, communications or related field is required. Strong working knowledge of the cattle industry and cattlemen. Appreciates beef production culture and relates well to cattlemen in the region. Must possess excellent oral presentation and interpersonal skills. Works well in a team environment. Customer service, membership, revenue development or related experience is preferable. Thorough knowledge of the livestock industry preferred. One to three years in a membership environment a plus. Must be a solutions-oriented self-starter, able to thrive in a travel-intensive environment.
