Nov. 23, 2004 - Beef Industry Confident in Safety of Beef Supply: Stokes

The U.S. beef industry is pleased to have conclusive, negative test results from an animal suspected last week of having bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), according to Terry Stokes, CEO of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).

Stokes expressed the industry’s gratitude for a multi-layered screening process that is working well, and his confidence that USDA and the beef industry are taking all measures necessary to ensure the safety of beef.
