Obituary: Dub Waldrip
Dub Waldrip, who was president of the National Cattlemen’s Association in 1983 and served on the National Cattlemen’s Foundation, passed away Nov. 20 in Lubbock, Texas. He was 81. Donations may be made on behalf of Dub to the National Cattlemen’s Foundation, 9110 E. Nichols Ave., #300, Centennial, CO 80112.
Dub served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 and B-29 pilot. He then earned his bachelor’s, masters and doctorate degrees from Texas A&M University. He was a professor at Texas A&M and was president/chief executive officer of Spade Ranches, Inc. for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife Emily and his five children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as his brother, Dr. Donald R. Waldrip. Dub was an honorary director of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and a past director of Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He served on the board the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, USDA’s Meat Animal Research Center, and USDA’s Animal Health Advisory Board, and many others.
