Oct. 12, 2004 - Dietitian Conference Big on Beef
Thousands of nutrition professionals attending the American Dietetic Association Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California, last week learned more about how beef fits into healthy diets. Mary Young is a registered dietitian and the executive director of nutrition for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. She says beef producers through the National Beef Checkoff Program provided some welcome assistance to attendees.
Cut #1 :18 Outcue: "...implement that advice."
According to Young, great news about beef was key to the event.
Cut #2 :30 Outcue: "...we need every day."
A Checkoff-sponsored media reception was also part of the beef industry presence.
Cut #3 :26 Outcue: "...about beef nutrition."
Young says this involvement with ADA media spokespeople extends the beef message.
Cut #4 :14 Outcue: "...also really important."
The beef industry’s involvement at the ADA conference is funded by the National Beef Checkoff Program. The beef checkoff is administered by the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, a group of 108 beef producers from across the country. It was created in the 1985 Farm Bill, with oversight provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
