TUE., Oct 29 02 -- Event Introduces Dietitians to Lean Ground Beef
Suggested Lead:
The beef industry and its beef checkoff used the American Dietetic Association Annual Convention in Philadelphia last week to introduce dietitians to new USDA data about lean ground beef. The data show that lean ground beef is actually lower in fat and calories than ground turkey. According to Mary Young, executive director of nutrition for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, publicity for the announcement involved a football theme.
Cut #1 :37 Outcue: "...eating fruits and veggies."
Young says the effort helped link dietitians to the message.
Cut #2 :16 Outcue: "...news about ground beef."
According to Young, health professionals are a critical audience for the beef industry.
Cut #3 :23 Outcue: "...that they work with."
Through its beef checkoff, the beef industry at the ADA Convention also helped sponsor educational sessions and a booth at which dietitians could sample product and gather important beef nutrition information.
