Title: Beltway Beef Audio News

Last Friday, March 9, 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the agency will propose a comprehensive rule for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), a rule NCBA Associate Director of Legislative Affairs Kent Bacus says NCBA has been pushing for since 2004. Bacus says the comprehensive BSE rule will solidify the United States’ commitment to following internationally-recognized, science-based standards set by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

He says the rule, which is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register Friday, March 16, 2012, will be open for comment for 60 days.

"As individuals, we have limited resources...

...to aid in keeping the "wolves" such as government, environmental and radical groups, off of our door steps. NCBA is there every day protecting our industry."
