Title: Beltway Beef Audio News

Paige Wallace, NCBA’s summer intern, took a hike to Capitol Hill to talk one-on-one with Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). One of the main topics of that conversation was the issue of animal disease traceability. Rep. Goodlatte has been a long-time proponent of a farmer-driven, voluntary identification system. Goodlatte said he was successful in working with the last administration to move away from a mandatory identification system.

“Now, unfortunately the current administration and some in USDA would like to move us back in the other direction, so I have been an outspoken critic of having bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., dictate how farmers operate their farms… It is very, very important to have a system that is not run by bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., but is rather run by farmers…”

"We truly feel the NCBA...

...is a grassroots organization and there is power in numbers. Where else have you been part of a crowd of 6,000 people who salute the flag and say prayer before an annual conference?"
