Title: California Rain and Mountain Snow

It has been a hot and dry stretch across the far western states over the past few weeks. The exception has been in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies, however, California has been hot and dry as well as Nevada and Arizona and pretty dry in Utah as well.

A change in the jet stream pattern will bring some relief to a dry California by late this week and weekend as a series of Pacific storms will roll in off the Pacific. The graphic below shows potential rain and mountain snow late next week and this upcoming weekend.

The fire ravaged areas of central and northern California have a good chance at some wetting rains over the next ten days. The central and northern Sierras will have a good chance of receiving a heavy shot of snow that will lay down the first significant snow base of the season on the mountain slopes.
